Stories for Your Heart, Soul and Spirit

Deborah Simon is an education administration professional who is also a lecturer, writer, public speaker, child advocate, and minister who talks stories. Drawing from her rich family history, and using stories from around the world, she weaves vivid, colorful, and powerful pictures. She talks stories to teach lessons, to entertain and delight, to challenge our beliefs, and to touch our heart.

As a keynote speaker she has presented at business conferences and trainings; as a lecturer she teaches storytelling and weaves stories into all of her classes; as a minister, storytelling is ministry—informing, inspiring and illuminating. Her audiences are of all ages from wiggly preschoolers to elders crowned in silver.

The voice that stands out most prominently in her life is that of Momma Tee. She is molded, sculptured, and shaped by the voice and words of Momma Tee.

Deborah says, “I turned to Momma Tee when I was a young girl, still running ‘top-free’ through sprinklers on summer’s hot days. Momma Tee was my pilot as I navigated the turbulent adolescent years and she is my touchstone, the one that I turn to even today. For me Momma Tee is that quiet, calm voice of reason, that wisdom guiding me through the dense forest. She sees through illusions, straight to the heart and to the truth of the matter. No matter the situation, Momma Tee is always loving— most of the time laughing and at other times crying at the hand that life deals. She is firm and straight like the shepherd’s staff and her love is as boundless as the universe. I am in awe of her; Momma Tee lives in my soul. She is imprinted in my heart. Remembering an ancient blessing, she reminds me that, ‘Life is whatever I want it to be’.”

Deborah has a B.A. in Fine Arts and a Masters in Education from San Francisco State University, a Masters in Divinity (four year training) from Meru Seminary in San Jose California, and was ordained an Interfaith Minister in 2005. She has worked with the Art Council Silicon Valley as a teaching artist in preschool classrooms and as an early education professional and educator. Currently Deborah teaches storytelling for educators at San Jose Community College in San Jose, California.

Deborah Simon is available for your next workshop/seminar, Sabbath or sacred service, fundraiser, or inspirational message at schools. She is currently providing Sunday services at Recalling Spirit Ministries in San Carlos, CA, has delivered Sabbath services throughout California, and is a
