The Mary Maude Williams Scholarship Committee Proudly Presents
Tales From the Quilts Dinner, Storytelling & Silent Auction
Griots weave stories like women sitting in circles stitch quilts. Each story, each thread connecting history to the present; each stitch and each story echoing the voices of ancestors and the culture of the African Diaspora.
Three dynamic storytellers bring the African American experience to life. Antoinette Johnson of Zyanda Tells Tales, Rudy Morris of Poppa Ru Recalls and Deborah Simon of StoryTalk weave stories for your heart, your spirit and your soul. Nalini, a master drummer from Gitanjali, Faith Ensemble, and NEY will accompany with traditional African and Eastern drums and percussions.
